New Year, New Start - Hello 2016

With the New Year fast approaching I thought it was about time I sat down and had a thought about what I wanted to achieve in 2016.

One of my Christmas presents was a Ted Baker notebook so I thought I'd make good use of it. I made a bucket list/resolution list for next year which isn't definitive but it's a start.

My first and most important resolution is to be more organised. I need to be more organised in several areas from remembering to send birthday cards on time to ensuring I don't leave projects to the last minute.

To help with the task of becoming more organised I bought a family calendar for the wall which is hung in the kitchen - a room that gets used a lot so I should remember to check it! I also got given a diary for Christmas so I am going to use this as a planner and not just a diary for dates to remember.

Some of the things that I have started to plan in my diary is my blog posts. I am so passionate about blogging but always let other things get in the way so I have decided that this will be another resolution for me. I have made a list of blog ideas and scheduled times/dates into my diary to help me to upload more regularly.

I also want to read more next year, rather than sitting on social media all the time. I have started reading The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins and am loving it so far. If I can read quick enough I am hoping to read a new book at least once a month.

I have several other resolutions including places I'd like to travel to and health goals so perhaps I'll do a blog post on one of these if I achieve them!

Lastly, I will leave you a "behind-the-scenes" picture - the joys of trying to take photos with animals. Another goal of 2016, to train our animals to be more obedient!

Things my skin loves

So, my skin tends to either really get on with skin care products or it hates them so I'm always trying something new to find the perfect combination to get glowing, healthy skin.

My skin is dry in some places (mainly between my eyebrows and around my nose) but my forehead, bridge of my nose and chin are prone to getting oily throughout the day.

I do not profess to be a skin care expert but the following products are just some things my skin loves at the moment.

----------------------------

Soap & Glory Peaches & Clean Deep Cleansing Milk

The bottle says it "melts away makeup" and it does actually feel as though it does this!

With a milky formula it feels so kind to your skin and doesn't feel drying at all, just moisturised.

I will jump in the shower at the end of the day and take 2-3 pumps and rub this into my skin. I then use a muslin cloth or normal face cloth to wipe it away. I am currently doing a double cleanse every day and tend to use this as my first cleanse when I'm not using the next product below.

I am on my 2nd bottle of this and can truly say that my skin loves it.

----------------------------

I thought I'd try this cleanser as I have tried lots of cream cleansers and was interested in an oil cleanser. After hearing a recommendation from Caroline Hirons I thought it must be worth a try.

Again I use this as a first cleanse and take a few drops into my hand and rub onto my face - you do need to rub it onto a dry face as water emulsifies the oil and doesn't allow it to work fully.

I have not been disappointed by this product, I love the way it feels on my skin and it really clears my make up away. I feel it does brighten my skin as the bottle suggests and has a lovely citrus scent which is very refreshing.

The only downside to this is that it doesn't seem to take my mascara off as well as the cream cleansers and so I do have to follow it up with my micellar water. However, this does not put me off and I would definitely purchase this again.

----------------------------

Soap & Glory No Clogs Allowed Mask

This mask is still quite new to me but I am absolutely loving it already.

Previously I have used the Sanctuary thermal mask which I loved but this is something else. It leaves my skin feeling super clean and exfoliated and I feel like I've left the spa after my shower. Another plus is that it contains Salicylic Acid which is great for clearing up break outs.

I take a walnut sized amount and rub it into my skin. The product turns a pale blue once rubbing it in and starts to get very warm. Although you only need to leave it for a minute, I leave it for a couple of minutes. I then wipe it away with a face cloth and my face feels really cool and refreshed.

I haven't used the mask much but can tell that this will be a re-purchase once used up!

----------------------------

I love an exfoliator and I love Sanctuary Spa products so I knew this was going to work for me and oh how right I was.

I already have the Sanctuary Spa Exfoliating Pore Refiner which is a fine scrub whereas this exfoliator has larger bits in it so really works for clearing the dead skin away. It leaves my skin feeling brighter and has such a fresh lime scent which is lovely to wake you up.

I use this around 2-3 times a week and again I take a walnut sized amount and work it into my skin, clearing away with my hands and warm water.

All in all, I am very pleased with this product.

----------------------------

This serum was a bit of a random purchase, my old Sanctuary serum was running out and I was looking for an inexpensive one to replace it. I popped into The Body Shop looking for something else and came across this one at only £13.00 so thought I would give it a go.

I must say, I've been surprisingly pleased. It does't give the same tightening feeling that my Peptide serum did but at half the price I can't complain. It is super moisturising and sometimes I don't need to moisturise as well, even though this states it's a pre-moisturiser treatment.

I take 1 pump of the serum and work it into my skin after cleansing and toning. It is so light that it barely feels as though you're applying it and it soaks in so quickly, allowing you to apply your make-up or moisturiser pretty much straight away.

This is definitely a skin love!

Clarins HydraQuench Cream SPF 15

This product has been a firm favourite of mine for a good few years now and I haven't found a moisturiser any better.

I love the fact that it has an SPF in it (protecting the skin on your face is so important) yet it is so light that it doesn't feel as though it weighs down your skin.

I tend to dot the cream on my forehead, cheeks, nose and chin and then rub it in. It takes a matter of seconds to soak in and doesn't leave my skin greasy.

This is a little pricey compared to the other products in the blog but it's one that I couldn't be without.

I hope you enjoyed this post. I am aiming to blog as much as possible from now on, so please subscribe if you would like to see some more.

Spring/Summer 2015 Fashion Trends

So we are well and truly in to Spring now and there were some great looks seen on the catwalks of London, Paris and New York for Spring/Summer.

From Military greens to 70's flares, there was something for everyone.

I haven't made my purchases yet but I thought I'd show you what the big fashion houses had on show and what the high street is offering.

The high street stores have so many good offerings at the moment but I found that ASOS had so much to offer that I didn't need to look elsewhere.

I love this look and I think it is such a versatile style. It can be dressed up with a pair of simple heels or dressed down with some sliders or trainers.

I think it's fab that the 70's boho look is making a comeback. The maxi-style dresses are so wearable and the psychedelic prints really bring a pop of colour to the wardrobe.

ASOS - Swing Dress

New Look - Bandeau Maxi Dress

Kimono Coats

Kimono's were a feature Spring/Summer 2014 but I think the Kimono Trench is so sleek and sophisticated. Being so lightweight makes it perfect for this time of year.

I am such a big fan of shirt dresses so I am so pleased they have made a comeback this year. They are so wearable and I love the new long shirt dresses that are out there.

I think Suede and Fringing kind of comes under the 70's/boho inspired section but I absolutely love these looks so gave them a separate section. This look is going to be massive this Summer and really reminds me of festival season.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Please let me know if there's any particular blogs you would love to see from me.
